= Tengoku =
A large volcanic island and several trailing islands situated almost 3,000 miles southwest of the southern tip of [[alech_nor|Alech'nor]]. Tengoku is the name of both the main island and the nation that rules the islands. It is a lush near-utopia inhabited mainly by [[kitsune]], [[yosei]] (fairies), and [[korobokkuru]] (gnome-like creatures). Also dwelling there enormous celestial (Japanese/Chinese-style) dragons, who do not rule but are well-respected for their wisdom, and oft consulted by the Emperor, the ruler of Tengoku and always a kitsune.

The capital city is [[Rokugan]], The City of Shrines. Tengokuians worship ancestor and nature spirits. The nation is virtually unknown outside of a few legends elsewhere on the planet, partly because all of it is covered in a magical fog. The fog slows and turns around all while entering it, unless some magic counteracts it. The dragons created the fog shroud thousands of years ago to protect these peaceful and happy lands from intrusion. Ships from Tengoku can freely leave and re-enter the fog shroud, as can flying creatures and airships. The shroud does not obscure the sunlight on Tengoku.

There are threats on Tengoku, including evil spirits, kappa, hungry ghosts, and demons, necessitating soldiers and samurai to defend the Imperial House and common people.
