The current City Lady of Ploi Drajit and a wealthy retired bard adventurer. She is half-elven.
Born to the youngest daughter of the elven noble Malkalos family and a human adventurer named Sammish Hain, Frey did not know her father until she was an adult, as her Elven family forbid her mother, Mayth, from having anything to do with Sammish again. Soon he left on another adventure, anyway.
Raised around snobbish elves who never missed an opportunity to make her feel inferior, Frey was an angry and driven child determined to prove she was good enough. She excelled in her studies, especially in music and story, and grew into a beauty even the elven noble sons had to take a second look at. She was being groomed for government administration work and marriage to noble lord when her father's heritage kicked in.
The adventuring bug bit her, the yearning for travel and danger, for testing herself against the world, and so, against her family's vociferous disapproval, she took up her lyre, fell in with some travelers, and went looking for a dungeon. 10 years later, having had more than her fill of adventure and having been technically dead twice, she returned to Ploi Drajit for good and resumed her place in the family.
It took a while for her to be accepted back into that world, but her personal power, adventuring wealth, and worldly experience made her an obvious choice for City Lady. While officially an inherited position, in practice the nobles of the city appoint who they feel deserves to "inherit" it. Thus, in 1100 CY, upon the death of the City Lord, Frey Malkalos became the 110th City Lord/Lady. She is the first Half-Elf to ever hold the position, and is very popular with the general populace. As the ruler of the largest, most powerful city state, she is one of the most powerful persons on the planet.
