Fythia
The fifth planet in the Jesenreth Sphere, this air world has a circumference of 96,685 miles, making it almost four times the size of Jesenreth. Appearing as a bluish white sphere from space, the top 100 miles of Fythia's atmosphere are breathable air and have a tolerable temperature and pressure. Below that, the atmosphere becomes dark, hot, and crushingly thick. Nonetheless, dangerous creatures are said to live in the lower layers.
There is no solid land on Fythia, so all native creatures and visitors must be able to fly (Fythia's gravity in the upper layer is equal to Jesenreth sea level), personally or in ships. The planet's top layer supports a vibrant ecosystem of such creatures, including such sapients as aarakocra,[1] winged kobolds,[2] and winged elves. When not actively flying, they glide on the constantly moving air currents, even when asleep, or live among the massive floating plants and trees that circle in the winds of the planet's upper layer. The Fythian civilization most-known off planet is the aarakocra kingdom of Qhooqiad.
Spelljamming ships frequently fly through the upper atmosphere to replenish their air envelopes.
The core of Fythia is believed to be a colossal storm connected to the Plane of Elemental Air.[3]
