Holidays of Jesenreth
Many different holidays and festivals are celebrated by the various societies of Jesenreth (Planet), including:
New Year's Festival (Ploi Drajit, Ketten Islands, other majority human areas): Spanning the last three days of one year and the first day of the next, this holiday is celebrated with public and private parties, is holy to followers of Aloo, and is banned in Fraib Smaria.
Harvest Festival (Leftkada and many other rural places): Held the middle of the 8th month, after the harvest.
Dark Moon (Dnalor): Held on the new moon of the sixth month, this is a recognition of the darker side of fey nature, when scary things come through the ey Crossing]]. They play pranks but do no real harm, and people dress up and play pranks with them, and also consume very sweet deserts.
City Lord's/Lady's Day (Ploi Drajit): This celebration of civic virtue and family falls on the 25th day of the 10th month, and is marked with street parties throughout the city and gift giving, especially to children. The City Lord/Lady always gives a speech, magically broadcast into every home.
Day of Stone (Ufrealor and other Dwarven nations and communities): Held on the 27th day of the 9th month, this is a day of gratitude, especially to the earth and the ancestors buried within it. Marked with religious services and big communal meals.
Farwalker Day, or The Great Sale (Iredol and anywhere there's a Syndecol Industries store): Commemorating the day Falben Farwalker landed on Jesenreth, this day is celebrated with big sales and deep discounts on quality merchandise. Held the 17th day of the fourth month.
King's Birthday (Ketten Islands): Similar to City Lord's/Lady's Day, held the 10th day of the 5th month.
Unity Day (Genasi and Aasimar Confederation: Commemorates the day those two peoples founded their nation. Held on the fourth day of the 7th month, and marked by cookouts and magical light shows.
Devil's Due (Groshk and Fraib Smaria): Held whenever the rulers decree it be held, this day involves sacrifices to devils, and the less said about that the better.
High Seas (Ships at sea): Held on the 1st day of the 10th month, sailors on this day celebrate the sea and the sailing life by circling ships and drinking lots of rum.
