Homebrew Rule: Critical Failures
When you roll a 1 on an attack roll, it is a critical failure and it misses regardless of modifier or situation. You must then roll another d20, to “confirm the crit,” or see just how badly you fucked up.
On this roll:
- A 15 to 20 is just a miss.
- A 10 to 14 is an embarrassing miss. You look like a damn fool.
- A 5 to 9 has some negative consequence for the attacker, such as the weapon flying out of your hand or you tripping and falling prone.
- A 1 to 4 mean a very serious consequence, such as damaging your weapon or hitting yourself or an ally.
