Think medieval England. A country of several million, with rich soil, a pleasant climate and abundant natural resources, making it arguably the richest and most powerful of the Seven Kingdoms. It is ruled by the elderly, practically senile King Redor (was a level LG 10 fighter), whose three sons are vigorously bickering about who should succeed him, even though his daughter, Princess Janwyn, age 21, is eldest. But she's a woman! For her part, Janwyn (level 1 NG ranger) would gladly let one of them take over and travel the land as an adventurer, like in the novels she reads. But she knows that is impossible (or is it?) for one of royal blood, and fears it would disturb the spirit of her late mother Maudred, a strong and beloved queen who kept her raucous sons in line until her tragic death from a mysterious illness a few years ago. Janwyn's greatest fear is being married to some sniveling princeling from Velltro or Aramay.

Eddon has a large, powerful, and well-equipped military, lead (nominally, at least) by a band of paladins known as the Knights of Eddon, who for the most part are chivalric fops and dandies from rich/noble families, but whose number includes several very serious and powerful paladins, such as the Knight of the Realm and leader of the Knights, Sir Joun Halverstam, a level 17 NG paladin.
