Xaphod Bennelbrox
Male Half-Elf captain and owner of the Heart of Platinum. Orphaned by an accident at 13, Bennelbrox raised himself on the streets of Dref Dral as a thief and charlatan, eventually finding work as a sailor on a spelljammer called the Heart of Gold. A few years later, the ship was attacked by neogi, and all of the officers killed. Bennelbrox led the remaining crew in a fight to retake the ship, and when it was successful, they voted him Captain. The stresses of the battle and being thrust into the captaincy at a relatively young age, however, started his drinking problem. He renamed the ship after taking it over.
Nowadays, at 60, Bennelbrox sails the spacelanes of the Jesenreth (Crystal Sphere), trading and transporting and making deals, when he's not getting drunk and carousing, that is. He has a reputation as a just barely honest merchant, and that's with the people who like him. To others he is a notorious rapscallion, scoundrel, and womanizer, and he would not have it any other way.

Bennelbrox is also well known for being a crack shot with a pistol and a proficient swordsman with a rapier. "Rapier" is also how he would describe his wit, though few others would.
